NOVOTEC SHEETING FASTENERS

NOVOTEC SHEETING FASTENERS

NOVOTEC sheeting fasteners are manufactured and complies to the roofing screw standards of AS3566.2 and ISO1478. NOVOTEC class 3 fasteners are 25 micron mechanically coated and has a make up composition including zinc&tin which gives NOVOTEC sheeting screws a very high corrosion resistance. Reamer sections on NOVOTEC sheeting screws are high quality and stand more prominently on the shank which allows for proper reaming of sheet to prevent corrosion from scratching off coating on sheeting screws upon application. NOVOTEC sheeting screws consist of more threads per inch which increases pull out values compared to other products on the market. NOVOTEC offers class 2 and class 3 sheeting screws in various lengths and sizes.

NOVOTEC offers for the coastal regions a high quality Class 4 sheeting screw:

Corrotex® Coating

The screws are Mechanically Plated by a method of depositing metallic coating onto the heat treated hardened screws by means of the mechanical energy produced by rotating a barrel or cylinder. The screws to be coated are loaded into the barrel with a mixture of glass beads, water, chemicals and metal powder comprising of zinc and tin, is added at various stages so that the combined effect of mechanical energy transferred through the glass beads and the chemicals, which keep the parts and metal powder oxide free, this causes the metal to be cold-welded onto the parts.

Due to the nature of the coatings and inhibited chemicals used mechanical plating is hydrogen embrittlement free.

The Corrotex® coating is an alloy consisting of zinc and tin. Zinc provides sacrificial protection, and tin is generally used as a barrier coat. The alloy of these two metals provides superior corrosion resistance. The tin inhibits the corrosion of the zinc, which in turn inhibits the corrosion of the part itself. Corrosion resistance is much higher with this composition and is offered in 75/25 ratio of zinc and tin. This coating complies with AS3566.2/SABS 1273-2011 for Class 3 and 4 depending on the respective coating thickness. I.e 45 microns for Class 4.

In addition, a Xylan® fluoropolymer containing PTFE, coating is applied in thin film over the zinc/tin mechanically applied coating to increase corrosion protection. Xylan® coating is a clear dry film that also acts as a lubricant to accelerate drilling and tapping performance of the screw.
